Because we can’t fly and want to, feathers are full of metaphor. Ever since I began writing my new Book, that is about the stories of meaning that we find in feathers and birds, my art has reflected this focus. I have temporarily veered farther away from the biology of birds and feathers. Life is in a way richer and deeper. That doesn’t mean that the structure, activities, and functions of real birds and their feathers are less important.
