Melanin is the compound that colors human skin and feathers. It is what gives us the blacks, browns, russet reds. Same with feathers.
What if our skins grew varied and complicated patterns like feathers feathers do? Would we separate and rank people in heierarchical order by skin pattern like we do now? Or would we be in awe and in love with the varied patterns on us, like I am with these two feathers pictured here?
