Ocellated Turkey feathers carved into A British Bird Chess Set. The name of this famous first move? Hint: it is not the one named “Bird’s opening move” which is the King’s f4 pawn.
Looking for the right feathers for this piece, I landed on these long thin Ocellated Turkey tail feathers from Central America. Unlike the other species of turkey, the American Turkey and all the subspecies and domestic varieties, these tail feathers are skinny, not fat and semi triangular. Both are beautiful.
